Matej Bordon

.

Matej Bordon is from Slovenia (Maribor, 2nd largest city). Matej is married to Amy (from the USA) and they have 5 girls. Amy periodically works in a local school as a native English speaker giving English lessons. Matej is developing into the role of an elder in the Evangelical Christian Church of Maribor.

Matej will serve in the Evangelical Christian Church of Maribor and, with the team of elders, contribute to the advancement of the gospel in the local church and nationally.

Matej is passionate about sharing the gospel with his own people and eager to learn and develop as a leader. Matej is already a mature believer and has sensed a call of God in his life to start a journey towards full time ministry.

This journey will begin with an apprenticeship programme with Ministry Training Strategy (mts.com.au) for 2 years and then, God willing, a continuation into full time ministry.

Investing in Matej is investing in a person who will be enabled to reach his people and beyond with cultural and historical sensitivity.

Slovenia has 0.1% of evangelical believers in the country of around 2 million people. Even though raising support within one's country is encouraged and much valued, it is extremely difficult for a national missionary to raise sufficient funds. The barriers to the development of first-culture-led church plants in Europe include issues that are matters of relationship, and spiritual and emotional support as much as concerns of finance. Therefore isolation is also a material issue.

The recruitment of Matej Bordon is a collaboration between the South East Europe - Cluster Network (ECMI), MTS Australia, and the Evangelical Christian Church of Maribor, a growing church which is part of the Evangelical Union in Slovenia.

Matej's support will come from churches and individuals In Australia through MTS, as well as from other contacts within the country of Slovenia and beyond.
