Colin & Jill Bakon

"From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us." (Acts 17:26-27)

About Colin and Jill

Colin and Jill and their two boys, Matthew and Nicholas, served with SIM in Loja, Ecuador from 1996 to 2010 when they returned to Australia. Over the next decade, Colin continued to travel frequently to serve the evangelical church in Latin America using Simply Mobilising resources to broaden their vision for mission engagement. He was also involved in promoting and facilitating church mobilisation with SIM teams on other continents for several years.

Ministry focus

As our boys approached adulthood, we began to think about the possibility of relaunching to serve full-time in cross cultural ministry.  Both SIM and Simply Mobilising invited Colin to consider relocating in order to better serve God’s mission in another part of the Spanish-speaking world, namely Spain. We pursued a partnership with ECM and arrived in the country in August of 2021. Based in the south, Colin aims to help Spanish churches become mobilised to reach out to same culture and cross-cultural people groups both locally and overseas by training and mentoring existing mobilisers around the country, growing, strategizing and planning with this team and by networking with local pastors. After living in different locations, learning and observing through this first term of service, we hope next term to settle and be involved in a church where we might invest in mission engagement at a local level while still promoting and equipping for it at a national level.
