Rev Associate Professor Darrell Jackson, Th.D., PG. Dip., BA.(Hons), HND., Dip. Pastoral Studies
Darrell grew up in the Isle of Man, came to faith in 1972, and was baptised in 1979. He gained a BA at London School of Theology, was ordained as a Baptist pastor in 1989, and graduated with a Th.D. from the University of Birmingham in 2009.
He has served in pastoral ministry, regional ministry and was the National Mission Advisor to the Baptist Union of Great Britain from 1996 until 2003. He was seconded by CMS from 2004-2007 to serve as the Executive Researcher for the Conference of European Churches, based in Hungary. He became the founding Director of the Nova Research Centre and Lecturer in European Mission, Redcliffe College, England between 2007-2011. In early 2012 he relocated with his family to Sydney, Australia, where he now holds the position of Associate Professor of Missiology at Morling College, the Baptist theological college for New South Wales. In addition to his teaching role at Morling, Darrell is currently supervising PhD candidates from Sri Lankan, Australian, Zimbabwean, Korean, and Nigerian backgrounds.
He has served as adjunct and visiting faculty at Bristol Baptist College, Regents Park College in Oxford, Tabor College in Adelaide, and the International Baptist Theological Seminary in Prague. He is a regular conference speaker and his articles and chapters have appeared in books, journals, and magazines in Russia, Germany, Sweden, Korea, Denmark, the UK, and the USA.
He is the Secretary of the Australian Association of Mission Studies, a Mission Commission Associate of the WEA, a member of the International Association of Mission Studies, serves on the Executive of the Lausanne International Researchers’ Network, is a member of the Editorial Board of Lausanne Global Analysis, a member of the National Leadership Team for Missions Interlink in Australia, and is a missiological consultant to Global Interaction (the Australian Baptist Mission Agency).
Darrell is married to Beth, an ordained Baptist pastor and former missionary, with whom he has two children, Kai and Karys. Darrell would love to improve his guitar skills but is a contented member of the worship team at his local Baptist congregation.
