A Musical Connection

Germany Musical Connection.png

Rob and Laura Llewellyn have been faithfully ministering at Gloucester Anglican Church for a few years. Rob shares here about a long-term connection with the Maegraiths and their recent visit to share with the congregation in Gloucester.

“I’ve known Richard and Ali since our time doing music ministry outreach together at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Richard and I were both professional musicians in Sydney at the time: me, classical, and Richard, jazz. Phillip Jensen pulled us together to spearhead outreach ministry to musicians in the city of Sydney based out of St Andrews Cathedral and the ‘Con’. We saw a number of younger and older musicians impacted by the gospel during that time through Bible studies at the Opera House, various jazz venues, and through AFES evangelistic ministry at the Con. Many of the young musicians who were converted or involved in those ministries have now gone on to become Christian leaders in various places.

Richard has always had a strong devotion to Christ and his heart has always been for those on the fringes of society. Jazz musicians often find themselves in marginalised, niche communities who don’t associate much with the mainstream. As Christ came to seek and save the lost, the Maegraiths’ lives have been characterised by going to marginalised communities in order to shine the light of the gospel into unreached places.

When the Maegraiths visited our church recently, our people were struck by Richard and Ali’s passion for the lost. They were surprised by the great needs in Germany, not thinking that Europe was a place which needed missionaries. They were amazed by the stories of the work being done amongst refugees, with many of other faiths coming to Christ. Personally, I was challenged by Richard’s commitment to the word of God, and the clear message that salvation is by Christ alone.”

PLEASE PRAY
.....................................................................................................................................................................................................................

  • Praise God for his love for nations like Germany, rural towns like Gloucester, and the opportunities he gives to share that love through the gift of music.

  • Pray for Rob and Laura as they share the message of salvation in Christ alone, in the midst of a more traditional community like Gloucester.
